Played this game co-op with the wife and just wandered around killing things and tried to avoid getting killed. Discovered a few of the audio things which I thought was interesting... but since it was so late finding one, I probably passed some by. The dark city thing is tough to navigate even with the aid of the night vision thing...
The Audiologs in the game provide a small back story which sort of narrate what happened to the young girl Sadie and her friend Virgil.
The computer that guides you through the story by way of billboards and opening doors at the right times is Virgil, also called 'The Superintendent'.
Sadie is the Daughter of the Scientist that designed the A.I.
At some point I do recommend scouring the city for them, the narrative is well acted out and you might even get a few really good laughs, you may even feel a tinge of guilt at the end.
Yeah, I will look for the audiologs when I get some time. The wife plays a game to get to the end without taking time to check out the extra stuff, so once she's done I'll be playing this again to do my exploration.
You might want to mention that finding Audio logs actually unlock weapon storage points around the nighttime city. They house things like Rockets, Sniper rifles, Automag and SMG ammo and even Mongoose's to get around on.

You never know. Happy hunting.
